- Winter's Dream was purchased new in 1985 directly from Mirage Yacht Ltd by Jim Handley, a High School
teacher residing in Midland Ont. and located on the shores of the Georgian Bay in Ontario. Jim sailed
Winter's Dream exclusively on the great lakes.
In June 2000, Jim sold Winter's Dream to Theo Blanchard, the present owner, who had Winter's Dream transported
by road transport from Midland Ontario to Saint John, New Brunswick. From 2000 to 2002, Winter's Dream was
exclusively sailed up and down the Saint John River, on Grand Lake and on the Kennebecasis basin at proximity
to Saint John New Brunswick. Winter's Dream was laid up at the Royal Kennebecasis Yacht Club for the winters 2001- 2002.
In the spring of 2002, Winter's Dream was sailed to the Oromocto Boat Club, near Fredericton, as its port of
attach, and was sailed up and down the Saint John River and Grand Lake all summer. In the spring of 2003, Winter's
Dream had not yet been in salt water since her initial launching in 1985.
In the spring of 2003, Winter's Dream was completely and professionally upgraded by a certified marine technician with
new instrumentation and electronics by the addition of mostly Raytheon and GRC radar and navigation aids, reworked sails,
bimini and dodger at a cost of approximately $18,000. Receipts can be provided for proof of work done and competence of
certified marine technician.
In June of 2003, Winter's Dream was sailed from Halifax through the Canso Causeway and on to the Bay of Chaleur, in northern
New Brunswick. For the balance of the 2003 summer, she was sailed as a Day Sailor in the Bay of Chaleur with its port of attach
in Bathurst New Brunswick..
In the fall of 2003, Winter's Dream was laid up on the Caraquet Wharf in northern New Brunswick where she was laid-up for two
years until she was sailed in September 2005 to Shediac N.B., where she presently resides.
Winter's Dream was not sailed in 2004. In 2006, was launched at Point du Chene.
